Living With Muscular Dystophy But Not Letting It Define You

I was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy when I was a year old.  If you don't know what this is, it means I have an extra chromosome which prevents me from walking.  Over time your muscles slowly deteriorate until ultimately you die.  This is just something that my parents and I have learned to deal with.  I'm hear to tell that you that just because you have a disease you don't have to let it define who you are.  I don't look in the mirror and see myself in a wheelchair.  All I see is a normal 25 year old who goes out to bars, goes to concerts, and just enjoys life.  Of course I know I have certain limitations but I still find a way.  I have never felt alienated or left out in my entire life.  I remember being 5 and wanting to play t-ball because my cousin did and my mom said I could.  In the end I hated it and quit after our first game.  The point is to not let anything define you except yourself.  You decide who you become not some stupid disease.  Muscular Dystrophy is only a small part of me and that's how it should be.  If you also have Muscular Dystrophy and would like to talk please email me.

Motivational Monday: Love Yourself!

Happy Monday!  This week is National Eating Disorders Awareness Week.  I have actually suffered from an eating disorder when I was about 11 or 12.  It's still something I struggle with daily.  There is so much pressure put on us that we feel the need to fit a certain image.  I've learned from my own experience that we don't need to.  Embrace who you are!  Be who you want!  Love yourself just the way you are!  Never let anybody say you aren't beautiful.  I want everybody to leave a comment, send an email, or tweet me 3 things you love about yourself.  None of them can involve your looks.  Also if you are going through something and just need somebody to talk to I'm here for you.  I felt like I couldn't talk to anybody when I was going through my experience.  All my contact info is in the contact tab.  I hope to hear from all of you!  Here are my 3 things I love about myself.

1. I am a huge nerd for Captain America.  Actually just a nerd in general.

2. I have MANY obsessions.

3. I am a bookworm and I taught myself how to read when I was like 5 or 6

Motivational Monday: Dreams DO Come True!

Happy Monday!  If you haven't read last week's post then click here because today's is a continuation.  So last Monday I went to see Justin Timberlake.  It was the best concert EVER!  He was even sick and still performed incredibly!  I have dreamed of meeting him my whole life!  I've been a fan since I was 8 and now I'm almost 25.  Well Monday it came true!  I can't really go in to much details but I was totally surprised!  I had contacted the news about meeting him.  You can watch it here.  First I was upgraded to 2nd row!  Then it actually happened!  I met all his band and dancers and backup singers.  Everybody was SO nice!  When I found out I was meeting him I totally cried but pulled it together.  While waiting Jessica Biel walked by!  I was starstruck just by that.  Suddenly he was standing in front of me and I remember nothing.  I feel like I blacked out.  During the show he sang to me twice and gave me a shout out on stage!  It was just AMAZING!  Never give up on your dreams!  So now that I've accomplished this dream I must set another.  So now I want to be on The Ellen Show!  So I need all of you to help!  Tweet Ellen using #EllenmeetJerica.  No dream is too big!

Motivational Monday: Dreams

Happy Monday!  Today I want to talk about dreams.  Everybody has some kind of dream.  It could be to be famous, open a business, or even starting a blog.  Your dreams are important no matter what.  Nothing is unrealistic if you set your mind to it.  Today I'm see Justin Timberlake and hope to meet him.  I won't give up even if it doesn't happen this time.  Maybe it will next time.  So just keep dreaming and never let anybody tell you that you can't do something.

My Believe Tour Experience

Last night I went to Justin Bieber's Believe Tour in Omaha, Nebraska.  I've been a fan for years and I had went to the My World Tour 3 years ago.  I was so excited!  I had AMAZING seats so I could see the entire stage.  I hadn't watched any YouTube videos so I didn't know what to expect.  First up was Mike Posner.  I really liked him.  He got the crowd really pumped and excited.  I only knew a few songs though.  The next band was Hot Chelle Rae.  I love them!  I had seen them a few years ago.  They did amazing and I actually bought their album after.  Finally it was time for Justin Bieber!  I actually recorded the first 3 songs which you can watch below.  The whole show was perfection.  He sang a good mixture of old and new songs.  His dance moves were incredible.  It was just an awesome show!  I can't wait for the next tour!

Music Friday: One Less Lonely Girl

Happy Friday!  I hope you all had an awesome 4th.  I sure did.  Today's share is so exciting because I'm going to see JUSTIN BIEBER TOMORROW!!!!  Yes I'm finally seeing the Believe Tour!  Don't worry I'll let you guys know how it went.  Today I chose my all time favorite Bieber song.  It is One Less Lonely Girl. I will never get tired of this song.  Enjoy!

♥February Favorites♥

Can you guys believe that February is already over?  This year is going so fast!  It's time to tell all of you my monthly favorites.  I want to know what you guys were loving too!  Let me know below!

Music:

You've probably noticed by now that I'm addicted to music.  I narrowed it down to three which was so hard.  I bought tons of new music this month.

The first song is I Would by Justin Bieber.  If you haven't bought the acoustic album yet then you are missing out!!!!  It is so amazing!  This is my favorite though.

My next song is One Way Or Another by One Direction.  This is probably no surprise.  I did a whole blog post on it.  I've had both the song and video on repeat for days!  If you haven't bought it yet, go buy it and support a great cause.

The last song is Anything Could Happen by Ellie Goulding.  I first heard this song when Fifth Harmony performed it on X Factor and loved it.  Then I heard it on Glee so I finally bought it.  I can't stop playing it now.  Check out the other versions I mentioned too.

TV Show:

I've been watching Revenge since season 1 and I was instantly addicted.  It isn't typically a show that I'd watch but my grandma said I should.  This season has been so crazy!  I can't wait for the next episode.  It has tons of drama and lies.  Plus I kind of have a crush on Josh Bowman.  You can catch up on the show on Netflix or Hulu.  You won't be disappointed!

Movie:

I saw so many movies this month.  I'm addicted to movies.  My favorite was by far Safe Haven.  I went to see it with my mom and younger sister for Valentine's Day.  I read the book back in high school and I loved it.  I love Nicholas Sparks so I was glad another movie came out.  The movie is about Katie and how she is starting a new life in a new town.  It is very good.  Be warned you will cry!  I'm actually re-reading the book right now.

Food:

I'm in LOVE with these Dark Chocolate Pretzel Slims from Trader Joe's.  I'm not a fan of Dark Chocolate at all.  When my friend offered me one I honestly didn't think I'd like them.  I was surprised at how delicious they were!  It is the perfect mixture of sweet and salty.  I am now hooked.

Random:

I had been hearing of Tumblr for awhile before I finally joined.  I probably joined in October of last year but I've recently had an unhealthy obsession.  I check it at least every half hour.  If you don't know what Tumblr is, it's basically a picture and video blog.  You post many GIFS and pretty much anything you want.  If you want to follow of just check out mine then Click Here.  Be warned it was about 99% focused on One Direction.

If you've followed this blog for awhile then you know I may have a slight obsession for YouTube.  This month I discovered the Harlem Shake videos.  I can't stop watching!  They are so funny!  I don't have a favorite because honestly I love them all.  I want to do my own but I haven't yet.

Moment:

Every month I pick my favorite moment that happened.  Mostly so at the end of the year I can look back and remember.  Valentine's Day was my favorite this month.  It was an awesome day.  I had lunch with my grandma who gave me conversation hearts.  My grandpa gave a heart full of chocolates.  Then my mom made me cupcakes plus had a bouquet of cookies sent to me.  My older sister baked me cookies.  And lastly I got a teddy bear and a singing Justin Bieber from my friend.  I loved it.

Looking Ahead:

I've decided to add what I'm looking forward to next month.  This will also let you guys know what I'll be doing.  It is going to be a very busy month.  I'm seeing Maroon 5 on Sunday front row!  Plus I'm going to see Taylor Swift on opening night for her Red tour!  That's just a tiny preview of how my March will be.  Don't worry I'll bring you all along with me.

I'm Back!!!!! 2013 Plans :)

Happy New Year you guys!!!!!  I took a few weeks off but now I'm back.  I have exciting things planned for this blog for 2013.  First Music Friday is still going to continue starting tomorrow.  Also I'm going to 4 concerts and I'm bringing you all with me.  The concerts are Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and One Direction.  I am very excited!!  I'll be reviewing each concert and posting pictures and maybe even some video.  I'm also going to be doing more fashion type blogs.  I'm going to do celebrity inspired looks for less.  Let me know which celebrities looks you'd like me to do.  I plan on blogging Dancing With The Stars again too.  If you want me to blog any other shows just let me know.  Lastly I'm going to be doing monthly favorites blogs!  At the end of every month I'll post some of my favorites for that month.  What are some favorites that you'd like to know from me.  If you guys have any ideas, thoughts, or just want to chat then please contact me!  You can leave a comment below or tweet me at @jerica_89 or email me at jerica.berner@aol.com.  I hope to hear from you all soon!  Let's make 2013 a great year!!!!!!!!

2012 So Far

We are already half way through 2012 already!  I can't believe it.  I decided to do a blog on my favorites of 2012 so far.  Then I'll do another updated one at the end of the year.  I want you guys to answer too!

Favorites:
Song:  This is so hard to choose because I love music.  I'd say my favorite song of 2012 so far is What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction.  It is just a feel good song that every girl loves.  It is my most played song on iTunes at 174 plays.

Movie:  I go to the movies quite often.  There have been many good films out so far.  My favorite is The Avengers.  I saw it opening day and loved it!  I love Captain America the most.  I wrote a full review on this blog if you want more details.

Trend:  My favorite trend right now is the neon trend.  I love bright colors so I was glad this trend become popular.  If you don't want to wear too much neon, wear a neon bangle set.  It will add a pop of color to any outfit.

TV Show:  2012 has brought a lot of good TV.  Revenge would be my favorite choice.  My grandma got me hooked on it.  It is very suspenseful and I like the storyline a lot.  I can't wait the season 2!

Album:  I already said my favorite on this blog but I'll tell you again.  It is Believe by Justin Bieber.  I love everything about this album.  Plus I just love the Biebs.

Book:  I love to read.  The book I'm currently reading is my favorite so far.  It is called Killing Lincoln by Bill O'Reilly.  I love learning about history so this book is perfect for that.

Accessory:  Sunglasses have always been my favorite accessory.  I buy a new pair every summer.  My favorite so far are from the Dream Out Loud collection by Selena Gomez.

Reality Show:  I'm addicted to Reality TV.  My favorite would have to be Keeping Up With The Kardashians.  It is so addicting and I can't stop watching!

Clothing Item:  I have been loving colored denim.  At the start of summer, I saw these shorts at Forever 21 and had to have them.  They are just so fun and colorful.

Nail Polish:  I haven't bought any new nail polish in 2012 yet.  I have been wearing a certain color more than my others though.  It is called Summer Peach by Sinful Colors.  It is a bright neon orange and I love it!

Best Album Ever!

It's finally here!!  My Justin Bieber Believe cd came in the mail today.  I have the deluxe version and I love it!  I would say this is the best album of 2012.  I was worried that his voice change would affect his music but I actually love it more.  Here is the list of songs:

BELIEVE

Before I start today's 30 day blog, I'm making an announcement.  If you read last weeks post about the new Justin Bieber album, I will still be reviewing it.  Unfortunately, my CD didn't come in the mail today.  Hopefully it will come tomorrow and then I'll put the review up ASAP for you guys.  I have heard clips of the album on iTunes and it sounds amazing!  Check back tomorrow!

Believe Comes Out In A Week!

If any of you are Justin Bieber fans like I am you are probably counting down the days until the new album comes out.  I preordered mine a month ago.  Since I ordered early I get the deluxe version of BELIEVE, a fan voted t-shirt, and a mosaic poster that includes pictures of the first 10,000 fans who preordered.  I will do a full review for you guys.  Let me know what you guys want to know or anything else you want me to review.

Believe Tour Dates!!!!!!!!!!

I have been waiting for this announcement for awhile now. Justin Bieber has released his North American tour dates for the BELIEVE tour. I saw the Biebs in concert in 2010 on the My World tour. It was one of my top 3 concerts of all time and I've been to TONS of concerts. If you haven't been to a Bieber concert then you should definitely go. Be prepared for LOTS of VERY VERY loud screaming girls though. My ears actually hurt for 2 days after due to the screams. I will hopefully be going to the Kansas City show. Also going on this tour is Carly Rae Jepsen. Below are the dates.
