2014 MTV Video Music Award's Recap!

Welcome to my 2014 VMA recap!  I'll mostly be talking about the performances and any craziness that happens.  All the winners are below!  The show started off with Ariana Grande performing Break Free.  This was her first ever VMA performance so I expected more.  She looked and sounded great though.  Then Nicki Minaj comes out singing her new single Anaconda.  Now I've never heard this song yet but I have to say I'm kinda feeling it.  Finally Jessie J came out with both Ariana and Nicki to sing their single Bang Bang.  I'm OBSESSED with this song but I found the performance boring.  They could've done so much more.  Taylor Swift is back!  She sang her brand new single Shake It Off.  Of course it was AMAZING!  I just love everything about her to be honest.  Sam Smith performed Stay With Me.  I can't get enough of him lately!  His voice is just timeless.  Usher was up next.  He sang She Came To Give It To You with Nicki Minaj.  I didn't really like this song but his dancing was on point as always.  He has had better and many more iconic VMA performances before.  My current boy band obsession 5 Seconds Of Summer were next.  They sang Amnesia which is literally on repeat for me now.  I was actually surprised by the song choice because it's still pretty new and it's a slower song.  I loved it though.  They did great for their first time.  MTV did a Robin Williams tribute which I thought was very thoughtful and touching.  Iggy Azalea performed Black Widow with Rita Ora.  I'm LOVING this song right now!  My favorite part was the outfit.  They sound awesome too.  Maroon 5 has NEVER performed at the VMA's before!  I find that so shocking but tonight they killed it!  They sang Maps which has been my summer song.  Adam Levine looked sexy as he always does!  Miley won Video of the Year and let a homeless youth accept it for her.  It was very touching considering her reputation lately.  At least she is raising awareness for a good cause.  Closing the show was the Queen herself...Beyonce.  I'm not a fan and honestly I was bored during this performance.  I wanted a mixture of old and new songs.  She won the Michael Jackson Vanguard award which was presented to her by her husband Jay Z and daughter Blue Ivy.  Overall, I thought the VMA's were pretty good this year.  I wanted more craziness though!  Maybe because of the Miley Cyrus twerking disaster last year MTV toned it down.  What did you guys think?  Also what performance was your favorite?  Let me know!
