My August Playlist!

It's the end of August!!!!!!!!  I can't believe it is another month already over!  School has started which has been very stressful.  Don't worry I will still be updating my blog regularly.  This month was SUPER busy so I'm kinda happy it is over.  If you want to check out last month's playlist click here.  I did a list of 25 songs from my childhood since it was my birthday month.  This month's playlist is sort of random but I've honestly been obsessed!  What are you guys listening to?  Let me know!  Enjoy!!!!!!

1. Girls Chase Boys by Ingrid Michaelson
I heard about this song awhile back from a friend.  She knew it would be a song I loved but I forgot to look it up.  I actually heard it on a TV show and immediately downloaded it.  I like how it is indie but still pop.  My younger sister and I play it all the time.  I just think its such a cute song.  Favorite lyric: All the broken hearts in the world still beat Let's not make it harder than it has to be Ohh, it's all the same thing Girls chase boys chase girls

2. We Are Done by The Madden Brothers
I have been a HUGE Good Charlotte fan since the very beginning.  I have no clue why they aren't a band but I'm glad they did.  What attracted me to this song was the beat.  It reminded me of a 50's or 60's song which I LOVE.  When I found out who it was I was shocked.  It is SO different from anything they have ever done.  It's so good!  Favorite lyric: Done with being a silent many Every voice rings out and carries No we won’t just go back Home without you hearing The sound when the many say We are done

3. Chains by Nick Jonas
First off, can we talk about how HOT Nick Jonas is?  I wasn't a fan of the Jonas Brothers so I wasn't sure if I'd like his music.  I really like it though!  Being solo is a good thing for his career for sure.  His sound is much more mature and I'd buy his album definitely.  I want more!  Favorite lyric: Alone in the night ‘til she knocks on my door Oh no, wasted again but I can’t say no (no) Baby tell me why, why you do, do me wrong Baby tell me why, why you do, do me wrong Gave you my heart but you took my soul

4. Black Widow by Iggy Azalea feat. Rita Ora
I can't get enough of Iggy!  She is pretty much my favorite rapper right now.  You guys know I'm a big fan of girl power and this is the best girl power song right now.  If you don't know, black widow spiders kill their mates.  I just love the analogy of that.  It's just good to know girl power still exists.  Favorite lyric: I'm gonna love ya Until you hate me And I'm gonna show ya What's really crazy You should've known better Than to mess with me, honey I'm gonna love ya, I'm gonna love ya Gonna love ya, gonna love ya Like a black widow, baby

5. Amnesia by 5 Seconds Of Summer
You guys know they are my current boyband obsession.  I talk about them all the time.  This was by far my most played song this month.  It's SO weird because I'm not a fan of slow songs at all.  For some reason I just can't get enough.  I play it multiple times a day.  Favorite lyric: I remember the day you told me you were leaving I remember the make-up running down your face And the dreams you left behind you didn't need them Like every single wish we ever made I wish that I could wake up with amnesia And forget about the stupid little things Like the way it felt to fall asleep next to you And the memories I never can escape 'Cause I'm not fine at all

6. Bang Bang by Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj
Why didn't this song come out at the beginning of summer?  This would have been my go to song!  This is just a great song.  It's really fun too!  Nobody really knows all the words but who cares.  You should check out the group dance for this song on So You Think You Can Dance.  It is AMAZING!  Favorite lyric: She might've let you hold her hand in school, but I'mma show you how to graduate No, I don't need to hear you talk the talk, just come and show me what your momma gave (Oh yeah) (You got a very big shhhh, mouth but don't say a thing) See anybody could be good to you, You need a bad girl to blow your mind

7. Boom Clap by Charli XCX
I've actually liked this song for awhile but this month I found it constantly in my head.  I would find myself humming it no matter what I was doing.  It is just very catchy!  The video makes me want to watch TFIOS over and over again.  I haven't checked out her other songs so I can't compare.  Favorite lyric: No silver or no gold Could dress me up so good You're the glitter in the darkness of my world Just tell me what to do I'll fall right into you Going under cast a spell just say the word I feel your love

8. Shower by Becky G
This is another song I found myself singing all the time.  I barely ever listened to it but somehow it stayed in my head.  It was the perfect summer song.  It was upbeat and very catchy.  I really like that it is slightly rap but still pop.  I've only heard her do collaborations so I'm glad she did her own song.  Favorite lyric: You light me up inside Like the 4th of July Whenever you're around I always seem to smile And people ask me how Well you're the reason why I'm dancing in the mirror and singing in the shower

9. Shake It Off by Taylor Swift
Taylor is back!!!  She announced a new album coming out in October which I can't wait for.  She also dropped this single and video!  Both are just pure PERFECTION!  She is going strictly pop now and I think that is a good move.  I love the meaning of this song because we all need to shake off the negative in our lives whatever it may be.  Favorite lyric: 'Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake I shake it off, I shake it off Heart-breakers gonna break, break, break, break, break And the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake, fake, fake Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake I shake it off, I shake it off

10. One More Night by Nick & Knight
You guys know I love boybands so whoever came up with this duo is genius.  It is Nick Carter from Backstreet Boys and Jordan Knight from New Kids On The Block.  All I can say is I'm obsessed!  I can't wait for the album.  This song is a perfect mixture of their sounds.  Favorite lyric: Do You Remember laying on the floor So drunk you felt we never laughed like that before Or the time we broke up when you were having doubts We tried to talk it out but started making out

Summer Series 2014: Summer Hair

I'm SO glad it is Saturday!  Has school started for you guys yet?  I have and I'm already over it.  Today's post is about Summer hairstyles.  In the Summer, I like to give my hair a break from the heat.  This year I've been loving my hair donut.  It makes the perfect bun.  I wear it everywhere!  It looks really classy too.  The hair donut comes in different sizes for different hair lengths.  Go buy one!  They are only $1 and life changing.  I also just go for a ponytail or a braid.  If you do want curls I have the perfect solution.  I did a tutorial on no heat curls using only a headband.  How do you wear your hair?

Challenge Friday: Throwback Time

Challenge Friday is back!  So I decided to do these every other week.  On the other week I want to do an advice post.  Submit questions to my email jerica.berner@aol.com and I'll give my best advice.  You can answer these questions too!  Enjoy!!!!

1. What year were you born? Post a throwback/flashback picture
I was born on July 15 1989.  This picture is of me when I was 2.  It was my favorite picture of me.  I'm not really sure why but I think I look cute.  PS I was totally rocking my Barney shoes here.

2. What was the biggest dance craze back in your day?
The biggest dance craze was probably the Macarena.  It was EVERYWHERE!  We didn't know any of the words but we all knew the moves.

3. Do you still own any VHS tapes or cassette tapes?
I still own a lot of my VHS tapes.  We kept all of our Disney movies but I also kept my Mary Kate and Ashley movies.  I was obsessed with their films.

4. List 5 your favorite past childhood TV show.
Barney
Full House
Rugrats
Cat Dog
Lizzie McGuire

5. What did you want to be when you grow up? Are you the person you’ve wanted to be?
I always wanted to be a spy.  I was in love with that idea.  Sadly I'm not a spy right now but maybe someday.

6. What were your favorite toys to play with?
I was totally into Polly Pockets.  I would play with them for hours!  I'm pretty sure I owned every one.  I still have them to be honest.  Giving them is just too hard because there is SO my memories.

7. What do you wish were still around today? (Food brand, gadgets, etc)
I wish everything from the 90's would come back.  I wish the cartoons would come back so I could share them with my nieces.  Today's cartoons are just too weird.

8. What was the one song you loved listening growing up?
This is embarrassing!  For some reason I was obsessed with Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus.  I had a cassette that I played in my pink boom box over and over.  It drove my mom crazy!

9. Are there any special things you’ve kept from when you were a child?
All I've kept are my Polly Pockets and VHS tapes.  I wish I kept more though.

10. Your thoughts about today’s generation versus your generation.
Today's generation relies too much on technology.  Go outside!  Enjoy the little things and step away from the iPads.

2014 MTV Video Music Award's Recap!

Welcome to my 2014 VMA recap!  I'll mostly be talking about the performances and any craziness that happens.  All the winners are below!  The show started off with Ariana Grande performing Break Free.  This was her first ever VMA performance so I expected more.  She looked and sounded great though.  Then Nicki Minaj comes out singing her new single Anaconda.  Now I've never heard this song yet but I have to say I'm kinda feeling it.  Finally Jessie J came out with both Ariana and Nicki to sing their single Bang Bang.  I'm OBSESSED with this song but I found the performance boring.  They could've done so much more.  Taylor Swift is back!  She sang her brand new single Shake It Off.  Of course it was AMAZING!  I just love everything about her to be honest.  Sam Smith performed Stay With Me.  I can't get enough of him lately!  His voice is just timeless.  Usher was up next.  He sang She Came To Give It To You with Nicki Minaj.  I didn't really like this song but his dancing was on point as always.  He has had better and many more iconic VMA performances before.  My current boy band obsession 5 Seconds Of Summer were next.  They sang Amnesia which is literally on repeat for me now.  I was actually surprised by the song choice because it's still pretty new and it's a slower song.  I loved it though.  They did great for their first time.  MTV did a Robin Williams tribute which I thought was very thoughtful and touching.  Iggy Azalea performed Black Widow with Rita Ora.  I'm LOVING this song right now!  My favorite part was the outfit.  They sound awesome too.  Maroon 5 has NEVER performed at the VMA's before!  I find that so shocking but tonight they killed it!  They sang Maps which has been my summer song.  Adam Levine looked sexy as he always does!  Miley won Video of the Year and let a homeless youth accept it for her.  It was very touching considering her reputation lately.  At least she is raising awareness for a good cause.  Closing the show was the Queen herself...Beyonce.  I'm not a fan and honestly I was bored during this performance.  I wanted a mixture of old and new songs.  She won the Michael Jackson Vanguard award which was presented to her by her husband Jay Z and daughter Blue Ivy.  Overall, I thought the VMA's were pretty good this year.  I wanted more craziness though!  Maybe because of the Miley Cyrus twerking disaster last year MTV toned it down.  What did you guys think?  Also what performance was your favorite?  Let me know!

Summer Series 2014: Summer Wardrobe Staples

Happy Saturday!  It's time for another Summer post.  If you guys want more after this series is over let me know.  You can leave suggestions in the comments or email me at jerica.berner@aol.com.  Today I'm going to talk about my wardrobe staples for this time of year.  I wanna know your go to clothing piece for Summer!  Let's get started!

Graphic Tees: I'm obsessed with graphic tees!  I wear them TONS.  I just love how it can express my personality without me saying anything.  Plus you can dress them up or down.

Jean Shorts: These are a must because it is just SO hot out!  I don't like them high waisted though because I feel like they are too unflattering.  Too short isn't attractive either.

Cardigan/Hoodies: You probably think this is an odd choice.  It can be super hot one second and then freezing the next.  So I just always keep one with me at all times.

Maxi Skirts: I've hopped on the maxi skirt/dress trend and I'm loving it!  They are just very comfortable and you can wear them anywhere.

Sandals: I love sandals!  I usually wear flip flops but now I prefer sandals because they are dressier.

My Katy Perry Prismatic Tour Experience!

Last night I went to see Katy Perry!  I have been waiting for many months for this.  I decided to channel my inner Katy Perry and braided a blue hair extension in my hair.  I felt pretty cool!  I went with one of my friends but we had to take a mini road trip.  It was only an hour though so not too bad.  There were two opening acts.  The first person was a guy but I had no clue who he was.  Honestly he irritated us so we went to buy drinks during him.  The music between sets was a total throwback.  I loved every second though because I love the 90's.  Next up was Kacey Musgraves.  I thought this was an odd choice because she is a country singer.  I really enjoyed her.  I only knew one song but I would listen to her again.  Finally it was time for Katy!  I honestly almost cried when she came out.  I've just loved her for SO long that my emotions took over.  This show was AMAZING!  There were probably 12 costume changes and the props were mind blowing.  Plus there was LOTS of  neon which I'm obsessed with.  Also she can dance!  She sang all her hits plus more.  I'm really glad she sang By The Grace Of God because I just love that song.  I wish this concert never ended!!!!!!  I miss it already!  I'll put pictures below.  Let me know if you've been to this concert!

Real Talk: RIP Robin Williams

Happy Monday everybody!  You may have noticed that I changed the title of this series.  I just thought it was a better fit.  Hopefully you guys love it as much as I do.  If you want me to do an advice post then just let me know!

RIP Robin Williams:
This was the saddest and shocking news of the week.  Legendary actor Robin Williams passed away at 63.  I was honestly so sad.  I grew up watching his movies and I still can't believe he is gone.  Robin Williams suffered depression and ended his life.  We have also learned since his passing that he had early stages of Parkinson's disease.  I want all of you to know that if you are feeling depressed to please talk to somebody.  You don't have to go through it alone.  Williams still has 4 movies being released in the coming months.  My favorite movies of his are Mrs. Doubtfire and Patch Adams.  What are your favorites?

Ariana Grande Is Dating...
It has been reported that Ariana Grande is dating Big Sean.  To be honest, I called this months ago.  He is in pretty much every video and song.  Plus he broke off his engagement with Naya Rivera and gave no reason.  I think it is a good match for her plus they already have chemistry.  Are you guys for it or you don't care?

Who Is The Next Lifetime Movie About?
I love Lifetime movies because then you just get facts without researching.  Brittany Murphy is the next Lifetime movie star.  I'm very excited for this because I don't really know much about her.  You probably know she died suddenly back in 2009.  Her husband died suddenly as well a few weeks later.  Brittany Murphy is known for her roles in Clueless, Just Married, and Uptown Girls.  The movie will air on Lifetime in September.

Justin Bieber Going To Jail?
Remember this mugshot?  Justin Bieber was arrested back in January in Miami for DUI charges.  Now he took a plea deal and must donate $50,000 to charity and do anger management classes.  Is this really what we've come to America?  I think sending him to jail would straighten him up.  He hasn't learned anything since then.  I was a huge Bieber fan but I don't like his actions.

Summer Series 2014: Summer Drinks

Welcome back!  Summer can be very hot so why not have a few cold drinks.  I'm going to share two different drinks that I enjoy.  One is alcoholic and one is not.  These drinks are perfect for parties or when you hang out with friends.  Let me know if you try these!

Sex On The Beach:
Now my drinks never look this good when I make them but I'm not a professional.  This is called Sex On The Beach and it does contain alcohol so if you aren't 21 don't drink this.  If you love fruity drinks then this is for you!  It doesn't taste like alcohol at all.

Here are the ingredients:
1 ounce vodka
1 ounce peach schnapps
3 ounces cranberry juice
3 ounces orange juice

All you do is pour it a glass and mix it up.

Cherry 7up Float:
This drink is just a twist on a classic root beer float.  Use cherry 7up instead and it is SO good!  Perfect for a hot day or just a simple dessert.

Challenge Friday: All About Music!

I've started a new series!  I found SO many challenges on Tumblr.  You are supposed to answer a question each day but that is too much of a commitment.  I haven't decided if I'll do it every Friday or every other but I'll do a new challenge.  Stay tuned!  If you have any suggestions let me know!  Also tell me if you like this idea.

1. What is the most recent song you downloaded on your iPod/computer/phone,etc?
I recently purchased the new Maroon 5 album.  With that I got two songs which were Maps and It Was Always You.  I can't wait for the rest!

2. Who is your favorite artist/band? Why?
I have WAY too many to just choose one.  Currently I'm obsessing over 5 Seconds Of Summer.  I just love their songs plus they are different from my typical music choices.  Obviously I love One Direction probably more then I should.  My all time favorite is Backstreet Boys of course.

3. A song you repeat everday
This is a tough one!  It is totally Maps by Maroon 5.  I mean who doesn't Adam Levine?  Plus the video is perfection because he just looks AMAZING!

4. A song that makes you happy
This is easy to choose.  It is Classic by MKTO.  Every single time I hear it I just feel SO happy!

5. A song that makes you sad/cry
I don't really ever cry when I hear a song.  I also don't really like sad music either.  One song that is sad is What Hurts The Most by Rascal Flatts.  The video just makes me so sad.

6. A song that makes you angry
This is probably going to sound really weird.  I can't stand the song Happy by Pharrell.  Every time I hear it I just get SO annoyed!

7. A new artist you would like to see live
I love going to concerts especially if I have never seen them live yet.  I'd really like to see Ariana Grande or Iggy Azalea.  I'm just obsessed with them right now.

8. Favorite acoustic song
A few weeks ago I was watching So You Think You Can Dance and they played an acoustic version of Latch by Sam Smith.  I thought it was going to be terrible since the original is very techno.  It is AMAZING!

9. A song that annoys you
I already mentioned a song that annoys me.  I have many though so don't worry.  Recently it has been Drunk In Love by Beyonce.  I'm just not a fan at all.

10. Favorite 80s song(s)
To be honest, I rarely listen to 80's music.  I went to an 80's party recently and had a bit of a jam session with my cousin.  We did have a favorite though.  It was Girls Just Want To Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper.  We were very in to it.

11. Favorite 90s song (s)
I have SO many!  I did a whole playlist of 90's songs I listened to growing up here.  I was very much loving the pop music.  I'll add a song that isn't on that playlist.  Semi Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind is the best!
I still play it a lot.

12. Favorite early/mid 2000s song(s)
I went through many phases during this time period.  I was totally loving rap for some reason.  Lose Yourself by Eminem was my jam.  It was a pretty big deal.  Actually anything by Eminem was my thing.  PS I'm still in love with him.

13. Favorite moment in any music award show
I love award shows but my favorite is ALWAYS the VMA'S on MTV.  Crazy moments are always happening there.  My favorite was when Lady Gaga performed Paparazzi.  It was EPIC!  I've probably watched it a 100 times.

14. Favorite YouTube artist and song
I don't really have a favorite artist.  I actually really like Pentatonix.  They just always do amazing things and there is no instruments.  The Evolution Of Music is my favorite by far.

15. A song from a new album you are waiting for to come out
The album I'm excited for right now is Ariana Grande.  I haven't heard any new songs though.  I do REALLY love Problem though.

16. A song that would be the theme song to a TV show about your life
This is totally easy for me.  It would be Spice Up Your Life by Spice Girls.  I just love my life and it's a party always.

17. A song that relaxes you everytime
Whenever I'm stressed out my go to playlist is One Direction.  The song changes depending on my mood.  Lately it has been Better Than Words.  I can't get enough!

18. A song that makes you dance
Right now I'm loving Bang Bang by Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj.  It's just SO addicting!

19. A song that you liked when you were younger and now.
I've always loved Britney Spears and I still do.  I'm going to with Toxic because I never get tired of it.

20. What’s life without music?
I honestly can't survive without music.  I listen every single day and no matter what mood I'm in it makes everything better.

♥Weekly Obsession♥

OMG you guys I can't get enough of Big Brother this season!  I've been watching for the past 4 seasons with my mom.  This summer is just INSANE!  The players don't really know how to strategize but that is why I love it.  This season has had SO many twists and I'm sure that there will be more.  The players are very interesting as well.  At first I was totally Team Frankie but now he is losing his mind.  I'm obsessed with Donny because he is just SO sweet!  Zach is also my favorite because he likes to shake the house.  I really hope a big move is made really soon.  Are you guys watching?  Let me know.

Real Talk: Is Taylor Swift Releasing A New Album?

Welcome to my new Monday series! Real Talk is about my thoughts on pop culture stories that happened during the week.  I may also do advice posts as well.  I love reading entertainment news so I thought it would be fun to share.  If you have any stories you want me to cover just let me know!  Also share your thoughts as well!

The 2014 VMA's:
The MTV Video Music Awards are only 2 weeks away!!!!!  This is my all time favorite award show.  It has been announced that for the first time EVER Maroon 5 is performing!  I'm totally in love with Adam Levine! *swoon* Others that are going to be performing are 5 Seconds Of Summer, Usher, Ariana Grande, and Taylor Swift.  The most surprising on the list is T Swift but more on that later.  Don't worry, I'll be doing a full review here so stay tuned!  Who are you most excited to see perform?

Weird Al The Next Super Bowl Performer?
Yes, you have read that correctly.  There is a petition going around for Weird Al to perform at the 2015 Super Bowl.  Really?  There are SO many better options!  I know he just made a huge comeback with his new album but I'm not sure the Super Bowl is fit for him.  I'd vote for either Ed Sheeran or Ariana Grande.  What do you guys think about all this?

New Music Alert!:
Hilary Duff and Nick Jonas have released new music!  It's been a LONG time since Hilary Duff has done much of anything.  Her song is called Chasing The Sun and was written with Ed Sheeran.  When did Nick Jonas become such a hottie?  His song is called Chains and it's a totally different sound for him.  I actually really like both songs.  Which do you like more?  Watch the videos below!

Liam Payne is Niall Horan's Biggest Fan:
I miss all the action on Twitter!  A few days ago #BeAFanDay was trending and Liam decided to join in.  His person of choice was Niall.  First he changed his twitter name to Mrs. Horan.  Then pictures of Niall saying he was "such a bae" and that he was a total Niall girl and couldn't wait to see him that night.  Some thought he was making fun of Directioners.  As a fan myself I thought it was funny.  He ended the night with this picture with the caption "OHHHH MY GODDDD I GOT A SELFIEEEEEEEE"  Good job Liam!

The Taylor Swift Mystery:
What exactly is Taylor Swift planning?  We are all DYING to know!  She has been leaving random clues but so far nobody can crack them.  She is performing at the VMA's as I mentioned but she hasn't released any new songs.  So is it a new single?  She is also going on a few late night talk shows but isn't performing.  So is it a new album?  I personally hope it is an entire album about Harry Styles.  Do you guys have any thoughts?

Saved By The Bell Lifetime Movie:
I'm obsessed with Lifetime movies!  It was announced awhile back that they would be doing a movie about Saved By The Bell.  It's going to be all about what went on behind the scenes.  Well now a trailer has been released!  It looks very drama filled which I love.  It airs on September 1 on Lifetime.  What do you think of the trailer?

Summer Series 2014: It's Party Time!

Hello!  Summer is the best time to have a party because your possibilities are endless.  Last weekend I went to my Aunt and Uncle's 25th wedding anniversary party.  We had a blast!  I've never been to a theme party before.  The theme was baseball since they met at a ball park.  Even the food fit the theme!  We had hot dogs, nachos, and popcorn.  The best part was the photo booth.  You don't have to rent an actual booth either!  All you need is some string attached to two poles.  Then all you need is a fun fabric for your background and a big frame to stand behind.  Next just buy a bunch of cheap props and you are set.  Set up a digital camera on a tripod and have somebody run it.  We had a bunch of 80's props and a few baseball props.  It was really funny watching everybody.  Overall the party was a success!  What would your party theme be?

♥Weekly Obsession♥

Today's post is probably my biggest guilty pleasure right now.  It is the show #RichKids of Beverly Hills on the E Channel.  I am SO glad this show came back.  I started watching it a few months ago but then it went off.  I guess it was renewed and I couldn't be happier.  Basically it's just a show about a bunch rich kids.  They shop, party, and travel everywhere.  What I love most is the things they say.  It is so funny!  Trust me you will be sucked in.  My favorite person is Morgan.  She is just super blunt but also a little ditzy.  Do you guys watch?

Summer Series 2014: OOTD!

Hey guys!  Before Summer started I bought a whole new wardrobe.  I have been loving them so much.  Today I thought I would share my favorite outfit that I've been wearing a TON this Summer.  The best part is that I paid less than $30 for the whole thing!  What have you been wearing?

My shoes are from Walmart and cost about $10.  The shirt I bought on clearance from Gordmans for $7.  I just put a plain blue tank underneath since it is all lace.  Lastly my shorts which are my obsession!  I wear them probably 3 times a week, no joke.  I bought them at Delia's on sale for $11.  They have a lace detail on the sides.

Here's what it looks like on.  I wore this to a water park with my nieces.  Also my sunglasses are from Delia's as well.
