The Hunger Games: Book vs Movie

Last summer my friend recommended I read The Hunger Game series.  I'm not a person who likes reading what everybody else is.  I refuse to read Twilight or Harry Potter because I'm not really a follower.  So I never bought The Hunger Game series.  This past spring I was browsing on my Nook for a new book to read and noticed the first book was on sale.  Since it was on sale, I decided I'd check it out just to see what the hype was all about.  I couldn't stop reading it and finished in 3 days!  Immediately I bought the other two books.  I honestly didn't think I'd like it because I hate any kind of violence.  It was very well written though.  Unfortunately I didn't make it to the theater to see the movie.  Last night I finally watched!!  I really loved it.  It wasn't gruesome at all.  It really stayed true to the book.  Everything I pictured while reading is exactly how the movie portrayed it.  I couldn't decide which I liked more.  Finally I decided I liked the book more.  The book provides so much more details about the characters and the actual games.  If you don't enjoy reading but are interested in the series I would recommend the movie.  Which did you guys prefer?

Dancing With The Stars: Who Is The 13th All Star?

A few weeks ago I announced the 12 members of the All Star cast.  Since then the fans have been voting for the final 13th cast member.  The past celebrities you could vote for were Carson Kressley, Kyle Massey, and Sabrina Bryan.  Voting ended on Friday and the winner was announced today.  I had a tough time deciding on who to vote for.  So I split my votes between Sabrina Bryan and Kyle Massey.  Sabrina Bryan is the 13th cast member!!!  Her pro partner is Louis van Amstel.  I loved her on Season 5.  She was my favorite and one of the best dancers.  Nobody voted because they assumed she was safe.  Unfortunately she was sent home.  I'm so glad she has the chance to come back and try again.  What do you guys think of the cast?  Who will you be voting for?  Don't forget I'll be blogging every episode so keep checking back.

Fall TV 2012

One of my favorite things about fall is that all my favorite TV shows are back.  Plus there are also new shows to watch.  I'm a bit of a TV junkie so I try to check out as many of the new shows as possible.  I decided to share what I will be watching this fall.  Let me know what you guys will be watching or if you have recommendations for me.

Glee: I'm a HUGE Glee fan and can't wait to see what happens since half of the original cast graduated last season.  I hope it doesn't change too much.  It premieres September 13 on FOX.

Dancing With The Stars: It's All Star season!!  I will be blogging every episode so subscribe if you want to know all about it.  It premieres September 24 on ABC.

Blue Bloods: This is the only cop show I watch every week.  I like how it is about family values and not just solving crimes.  Plus Donnie Wahlberg is hot.  It premieres September 28 on CBS.

Grey's Anatomy: The finale left so much hanging that I can't wait to find out what happened.  Who will live and who won't?  I guess we'll find out soon.  It premieres September 27 on ABC.

Happy Endings: This is my favorite comedy on TV.  My only problem is I wish it was an hour instead of half hour.  It premieres October 23 on ABC.

New Girl: I wasn't sure about this show at first but after a few episodes I really liked it.  I hope Nick and Jess get together this season.  They are perfect for each other.  It premieres September 25 on FOX.

Revenge: I'm most excited for this show to start.  My grandma got me hooked on this show.  The finale was so crazy that I just want to know what happened.  It premieres September 30 on ABC.

Touch: I love this show.  It always keeps you guessing and trying to figure out the connections.  My mom, grandma, and I never miss an episode.  I can't wait to see what happens now that they are on the run.  It premieres October 26 on FOX.

Scandal: I randomly started watching this on Hulu one day and was instantly obsessed.  I love everything about this show and the finale was so good.  It premieres September 27 on ABC.

Chicago Fire: I want to check this show out because there isn't any shows that focus on firefighters.  I'm interested to see what it will be about exactly.  It premieres October 10 on NBC.

Emily Owens M.D.: People are probably over medical drama shows but this one seems different than the others.  The main character is played by Meryl Streep's daughter.  If she is as good as her mother then I think this show will be a hit.  It premieres October 16 on CW.

Go On: I watched the pilot when it aired after the Olympics.  I really liked it.  Matthew Perry is great for this show.  It premieres September 11 on NBC.

Made In Jersey: I will be checking this out because it sounds interesting.  She is trying to become a lawyer in Jersey but kind of looks like Snooki.  It premieres September 28 on CBS.

Nashville: This show reminds me a lot of the movie Country Strong which I loved.  If it is as good as that movie then I will definitaly love it.  It premieres October 10 on ABC.

The New Normal: This show was written by the same guy who wrote Glee.  It looks pretty good and also funny.  It premieres September 11 on NBC.

Vegas: I'm actually really excited for this show.  First of all, I love Dennis Quaid.  Secondly, it is set in the 60's which is my favorite era.  It premieres September 25 on CBS.

Music Friday: We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

It's finally Friday!!!!  I feel like this week went so slow.  This weeks share is very fitting.  Since summer is almost over most summer romances/flings will be ending.  So I chose the queen of break up songs....Taylor Swift.  Her newest single We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together is number 1 on the charts right now.  I love it and can't wait for her new album.  Have a great weekend!

4 Ways To Glam Up Your Dorm

It's almost fall which means school is back in session.  Dorm rooms can be very plain and boring.  Nobody wants to live a drab place.  So why not add your own style and turn plain into glamorous!  Here are 4 ways to do just that.  Enjoy!

1.  Bedding
Since your bed is a huge part of your dorm then your bedding should set the tone of the room.  Do you want neutral colors or bright crazy patterns?  Your bedding should also reflect your personality.  For me, I'm a very bubbly person so I tend to go toward brighter bedding.  Bright colors can still be classy as long as you don't over do it.  If you want a neutral feel, add a few throw pillows for a pop of color.

This bedding is from pbteen.com and cost $25-$89.  It's bright and fun but not too over the top.

2.  Pictures
Depending on  where you go to school you may not get to see your family as often.  Having photos of your family and friends will make you feel more at home.  If you prefer hanging your pictures on a cork board then glam it up.  Go to your local craft store and purchase 4-6 squares of cork depending on how big you want your board to be.  Then cover each square with a different fabric using staples.  Using a hot glue gun, glue your squares together to form a giant square.  After it has dried, attach a piece of ribbon to the back so your board can hang on the wall.  Picture frames are also a great way to add decor to your room.

This is collage frame with 10 picture slots.  It cost $34.99 and is from target.com.

3.  Decor
Bare walls are boring and not fun.  Decor should really reflect who you are.  Put posters of your favorite band.  Add a chalk or dry erase board and draw fun designs.  Hang a string of colorful lights around your bed or window.  You can even put up a wall mural.  Just make sure not to make your dorm look cluttered.
This wall mural is from pbteen.com and cost $99.

 4.  Furniture

The size of your room will determine how much furniture you can add.  A TV is an essential item to have.  You can't spend all your time studying right?  Having a small fridge in your room is nice to keep food or drinks available for whenever you want.  Adding a bean bag or lounge chair is great if you have friends visiting or maybe you just want to lounge while you study.

This peace sign bean bag is also from pbteen.com.  It costs $50-$149 and you can even have it personalized with your name.

Book Corner: The Lying Game Series

I love to read and I always have.  I discovered The Lying Game series around this time last year.  I saw a preview for the TV show on ABC Family and knew I had to watch.  Then I found out it was by Sara Shepard, the same person who wrote Pretty Little Liars which is one of my favorite shows.  So I bought the first book and I finished it that night.  It was so good!  If you watch the show then you'll know a little bit about the storyline.  The book is different from the show.  The book is about a girl named Emma and a girl named Sutton.  Emma is an orphan who has lived with foster families most of her life.  Sutton is living the luxurious and privileged life.  After Emma sees a video on the internet of a person who looks exactly like her she discovers Sutton is her twin and heads to Arizona to meet her.  Upon arriving, Emma finds out Sutton was murdered and she must pretend to be her twin.  Determined Emma plays along while trying to figure out who murdered the sister she never knew she had.  I adore everything about this series.  It is suspenseful, romantic, and always keeps you guessing.  So far there are 4 books in the series.  Book 5 will be available February 5, 2013.  Here is the order of the books:

Book #1: The Lying Game
Book #2: Never Have I Ever
Book #3: Two Truths And A Lie
Book #4: Hide And Seek
Book #5: Cross My Heart Hope To Die

I hope you guys will enjoy these books as much as I do.  If you've read them let me know your thoughts in the comments.
